Hey, all! I'm Melanie Scroggins - voice actor and audio producer from Texas. I'm excited to be here and look forward to getting to know all you wonderful creatives.
I wanted to start a conversation about how 'business as usual' has had to evolve during this past year. I'll start.
I'm a voice actor who works 100% remotely from my professional home studio so now, more than ever, I've been extremely grateful to have the options and opportunities I have based on the coaching and direction I've received. But COVID halted production on the projects I would usually be hired for and I experienced quite a decline in voiceover jobs over the last four months or so. However, I tried to stay positive and really pushed myself to be more creative. Low and behold, work is now picking up and it seems the industry is finally able to start moving about again. I've learned that remote work is the way of the future and I'm excited to see where this takes us.

Hey, Melanie Scroggins! Great to see you here! For those of you who don't know, I met Melanie on LinkedIn. It became obvious early on that she is a powerhouse entrepreneur, and that is a huge boon when you are selling your services remotely! I highly recommend you reach out to her with any acting or producing needs! Speaking of special skills, how did you create those green checkboxes for your bio?! They look great!
To answer your question, with the restriction of lockdown, it seemed obvious that I wasn't going to have any more work on set for a while, so I began a VO and writing regimen. Not knowing if a gig was going to come my way, I just had to keep producing, and help others to keep producing, until I worked myself into more choices - if that makes any sense! LOL! Now, it seems, I am filled to the brim with projects all at the same time.
